The helical trestle was installed in this region (summer 2000) to eliminate a treacherous 6-8% grade further up the track. In the process, an elevated reverse loop (where the freight train is parked) was also added to provide additional operating routes. The original plastic trestle (on left) was replaced with a home-
made aluminum trestle. The grade is now 4% max.
