7/8ths Projects................................
The Accucraft Shay Bash

This project will result in making an Accucraft 1:20.3 , 2 cylinder shay into a 1:13.7 shay. The Accucraft shay is based on  Mich-Cal #2.   My shay will be a freelance shay.  And the story line will be that it a modern construct for the Wormwood Point  Railway.

So here's the mock up.
Saddle tanks for water.  A new bigger fuel bunker.   And of course the plantation style cab....after all, this engine won't be run in the winter..
 Stay tuned.

I decided to tackle the head lamp while waiting for the a new saw to arrive.  Accucraft made this easy Cheesy  The back of the case unscrews and the reflector and lens can be removed. I simply drilled out the reflector to accept the LED, which I prewired, and then reassembled.  The battery and on/off switch will go into the port side saddle tank.

Shop lights set for a sunrise or sunset effect....pretty coolCheesy I'll be rewiring the light as the 16 gauge wire is over kill electrically and smaller wire will look nicer anyway.
The wire ties are temporary, but that's the route the wire will take to the saddle tank.

Work is well under way.
The new fuel bunker is built (plywood) and the cab is constructed (brass). Now it's on to the roof....

Roof work....
Thinking about doing an open frame with a roll up canvas roof.  Summer operation only after all.......

Roof work....
In the end I decided upon a solid roof.  Here it is with paint but more detail to come
.
